Class action settlement statistics: what open settlements pay

By ClaimWell · Updated October 24, 2026 · 3 min read

How much open class action settlements pay, how many need no proof and how soon they close, counted from every open settlement we track. The figures update daily.

Figures from the 256 open US class action settlements on ClaimWell on October 25, 2026, each checked against its official notice and website. They update every day as settlements open and close. Amounts are what each settlement publishes; a share of a fund can end up higher or lower once everyone has filed.

"Without proof" is the share that pays at least one benefit without proof. Smallest and largest are the typical (median) published payments, shown only where at least three settlements of that kind publish a figure, so one large case can't stand for the rest.

How we count

A settlement counts as open while its official site takes claims, or until it pays if nothing needs to be filed. "Smallest" and "largest" are the lowest and highest payment a settlement publishes for one person, such as a flat no-proof payment and the cap for documented losses. Settlements that publish only one of the two, or only a fund total, are left out of the payment medians. How we check explains our sources and corrections, and all open settlements lists every one with its deadline.
