ClaimWell Privacy Policy

Who we are
ClaimWell helps people in the United States find class action settlements they likely qualify for, through an iPhone app and the website at claimwell.app. It is made by GPT Genius Lab, LLC, 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, Delaware 19713, United States ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy: support@claimwell.app.
The short version
- We keep what you tell us (companies, states, vehicles) so we can match you to settlements.
- If you send us a letter or email, we read it, keep only the facts we found (such as the company and the dates), and delete the letter or email itself.
- We don't sell your information, there are no ads in ClaimWell, and we never file claims for you.
- The companies, settlements and documents in your account are never shared with advertisers.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time, whether or not you pay.
What reaches us
Your account. On iPhone, the app creates an anonymous account when you start; you don't need an email address. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple gives us and, if you choose to share it, your email address (which may be an Apple private relay address). On the website you sign in with Apple or Google, and we receive the identifier and the email address that account shares with us, and from Google also the name on the account.
What you tell us. The companies you've used, the states you've lived in (and the years, if you add them), your vehicles (make, model, year and, if you enter it, the VIN), your answers to a settlement's questions (for example whether its description applies to you, or whether you received its notice), and the claims you record (the date you filed, a confirmation number, and whether and how much you were paid).
Documents you send us. You can scan a paper letter or share a document in the app, upload a file on the website, or forward an email to your private ClaimWell address.
- From each document we keep only what we find in it: the company, the type of document, the relevant dates, the kinds of personal information it says were involved, and the product, if any. We also keep the document's title or email subject so you can recognize it.
- The document's contents are deleted as soon as it has been read, and in any case within 24 hours. We never keep the original email, image or file.
- If you forward a confirmation from your email provider to set up automatic forwarding, we keep its confirmation code so we can show it to you.
Notifications. If you allow notifications on iPhone, we keep your device's notification token. If you have an email address on your account, we use it to send the same service messages (deadline reminders, the results of documents you send, and alerts when a settlement opens) when you don't get them as notifications. Every email has a one-click link to stop them, and you can turn them off on the Account page. We don't send marketing email unless you ask for it.
Purchases. On iPhone, subscriptions are bought through the App Store. On the website, they are paid by card through our payment processor. Either way we receive the status of your subscription (for example, active or expired), never your card number.
On the website, before you sign in. If you pick companies on our home page or a settlement page, they are kept only in your browser until you create an account, then added to it; we don't receive them before that.
How ClaimWell is used. We collect information about how the app and website are used: which screens and pages are opened (the kind of page and the kind of settlement, not which settlement), which features are used, and errors. With it we keep device information such as the model, browser and operating system, and how you found us: in the app, whether you installed it after seeing an advertisement; on the website, the type of page you first arrived on, the domain of the website that sent you, and any campaign tags in the link you followed. On the website these are kept in your browser's storage. None of this includes the companies, states, vehicles or documents in your account.
Advertising measurement. We advertise ClaimWell on other platforms and measure whether those ads work:
- Our public website pages (not the pages inside your account) include an advertising platform's measurement tag, which can set a cookie and tells that platform when someone visits after seeing our ad. If you arrive from one of its ads, we keep the click identifier from the link in your browser.
- When you create an account on the website, or start a subscription in the app or on the website, we tell the advertising platforms we use that it happened, with a coded version of your account number that they can't read back and, for a subscription, its price. To connect it to the ad you saw, we also send that platform's own identifiers for your device or browser, your browser type and, for a new account on the website, the IP address of that visit, which we don't store.
- We never send them your name, email address, matches, answers or documents.
Why we use it
- To match you to settlements, explain why each one matches, and show its deadline, the proof it asks for and its official claim link.
- To follow the companies you choose and tell you when a new settlement opens for one of them.
- To read the documents you send and add what they show to your matches.
- To send the notifications and emails described above.
- To provide and manage your subscription.
- To understand how people find and use ClaimWell, measure our advertising, and improve the service.
- To keep the service secure, prevent misuse and fix problems.
Who helps us
We use trusted service providers to help us run ClaimWell: to host the service, handle sign-in, receive the emails you forward and send ours, read the documents you send (an AI service provider, which isn't allowed to use your documents to train its models), process payments and manage subscriptions, send notifications, report errors, and measure how ClaimWell is used and how people find it. They may use your information only to provide their service to us, under contract. Advertising platforms receive only what's described under Advertising measurement, under their own terms.
Apple provides Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases and notifications on your iPhone, and Google provides Sign in with Google, each under its own privacy policy.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect the rights or safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply to it.
What we do not do
- We don't sell your information.
- We don't show ads in ClaimWell or share what's in your account with advertisers.
- We don't file claims for you, and we don't take a share of any payment you receive.
- We don't ask for your bank details or email password.
How long we keep it
Information on our servers is kept only as long as we need it to provide the service, and is deleted when you delete it or delete your account. The text of documents you send is deleted after reading, within 24 hours at most. We may keep limited records longer where the law requires it (for example, payment records) or to prevent misuse.
Your rights and choices
- On the Account page (in the app or on the website) you can turn emails off, sign out, and delete your account. You can remove the companies, states, vehicles and claims you've added at any time.
- Deleting your account deletes the information linked to it. It does not cancel a subscription: cancel an App Store one in your iPhone's Settings, and a website one from Manage subscription.
- Notifications on iPhone can be turned off in your iPhone's Settings.
- Your browser lets you clear its storage and cookies, and block cookies, at any time.
- Requests. You can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your information, or object to how we use it, by writing to support@claimwell.app. Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have additional rights under state law, including to opt out of the sharing of personal information for advertising. We honor them and won't treat you differently for using them.
Children
ClaimWell is meant for adults: you must be 18 or older to use it. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security and location
Information is encrypted when it travels between your device and our servers, and access to it is limited. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep as little as we can. ClaimWell is offered in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the service or by email before they take effect.
